| On November 17, 2007 the building Tucson Mountain Little League uses as a concession stand at Kennedy Park was vandalized and set on fire. The scene showed evidence of burglary by vandals more than likely to burn and conceal their crime. It took Firefighters 4 minutes after arriving to extinguish the fire, but not before the interior including the contents were damaged or destroyed. As with a lot of Little League organizations, the concession stand is a from which the majority of the money is raised for operating the league including paying required fees, obtaining insurance, supplying equipment and uniforms, etc. On Saturday, March 1, 2008 Live The Dream Athletics hosted a one day baseball camp to raise money to restore the snack bar. Young athletes ages 6 to 12 where given the opportunity experience an spring training just like their favorite professional baseball player. The morning began with Velocity Sports Performance leading a half hour dynamic warm up. Then Kevan Burns former Arizona Diamondbacks player and fellow colleagues lead the group through a serious of drills and exercise. They ended the afternoon with a soft toss drill using water balloons, then enjoyed a delicious BBQ lunch from the Tucson Mountain Little League. Thank you to all who participated and supported the event. |
